A meeting with council and the Municipal Development District concerning the bonds for the Bayland Island hotel/convention center project is happening this month.
“We will be having a meeting with MDD on Aug. 25 to price the bonds and approved the bond purchase agreement for the hotel/convention center,” City Manager Rick Davis said. “It is downright exciting and is coming together.”
Davis reiterated the date of Sept. 15 as the groundbreaking date for the long-awaited project.
The city has been embarking on building a luxury hotel on Bayland Island for the past few years. The city announced in Sept. 2020 that Hyatt Regency would be the brand for a 208-room hotel along with an adjacent convention center on Bayland Island.
